case study
Context: Cogent Analytics employs seasoned business professionals transitioning into consulting roles. Despite their extensive experience, new hires come from diverse business backgrounds and lack familiarity with Cogent's specific consulting methodology. This training aimed to establish a common language and foundational understanding of Cogent's principles to unify and enhance their approach.
Challenges:
Client Challenges: Gaining buy-in from seasoned professionals accustomed to their own methods to adopt Cogent’s principles.
Development Challenges: The training needed to bridge theoretical concepts with practical scenarios reflective of Cogent’s real-world consulting work.
Solutions: To address these challenges, this eLearning course emphasized simulations where participants used Cogent’s principles to solve challenges. Immediate feedback showed the efficacy of the methodology in action.
Results: The eLearning course is scheduled for deployment in March 2025. Through a structured, engaging learning environment, this course strives to:
Stronger team alignment
Long-term retention
Positive client impact
Lesson structure
Each module is designed to ensure learners understand, engage with, and apply Cogent’s consulting methodology in a dynamic and memorable way:
1. Demonstration:
The module begins with a video or live role-play demonstration that illustrates the principles of the specific section of Cogent’s methodology. These demonstrations model effective client interactions and set the stage for practical application.
2. Activation Activity: Following the demonstration, learners immediately transition into a hands-on simulation where they role-play a client meeting. This activity challenges them to apply the methodology in a realistic context, reinforcing their understanding.
3. Gamified Design: Each activation activity is inspired by a retro video game or board game, creating a nostalgic and engaging environment. By incorporating familiar gameplay mechanics, the simulations become fun and immersive while maintaining a strong focus on skill development.
This structured approach ensures learners first observe the methodology in action, then actively practice and internalize the principles in an enjoyable and interactive format.
